Karen ..
You are a white man's nigger...We are getting ready to elect our nation's first black President.
And we still have to deal with Aunt Jemima's like you !!!
Get off the plantation.
As much as I disagree with Karen's vote in favor of the re-zoning plan. This comment is not acceptable.
We should continue to use the tool of democratic deliberation instead of resorting to cowardly responses such as that posted by "anonymous."
Karen keep your head up. Many in this city support all 5 board members who made the right choice to move beyond race and into the future.
Mrs. Johnson ~
I'm so sorry to read the negative comments posted. It really saddens me to see how inmature people can be as we try to better our sons and daughters lives. As an MNPS employee and parent of an MNPS high school student - I want you to know that I, as well as MANY others support you as you fight for a better school system! I too agree with you that the system needs to change. If the plan that is in place is not working why keep it?! When my oldest child was in middle school we lived in walking distance to West End MS and was bused to Head MS. To me that concept doesn't make sense! I do not see ANY logical reason for a child to be bused across town when a school is in walking distance. When purchasing homes in a neighborhood you could rely on the neighborhood school being the school of zone..but now you really have to do your homework to find that neighborhood in the zone you want your child to attend school. I personally do not see this as a racial issue as many others see it. Please keep your head up and keep fighting for what you believe. Hopefully the city will wake up! Hats off to you!!
