Multiple trash bin costs headed higher in Davidson County


METRO WANTS TO CUT LANDFILL COSTS, FOSTER RECYCLING

IN AN EFFORT TO CUT LANDFILL COSTS AND PUSH RECYCLING, METRO PUBLIC WORKS WILL BEGIN CHARGING ADDITIONAL FEES NEXT SUMMER TO BUSINESSES AND HOMEOWNERS THAT USE MULTIPLE TRASH BINS. AS OF JULY 1, ALL NASHVILLE AND OTHER URBAN SERVICES DISTRICT HOMEOWNERS AND BUSINESS OWNERS WHO USE MORE THAN TWO TRASH BINS WILL BE CHARGED ABOUT $10 TO $15 IN COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL FEES FOR EACH ADDITIONAL BIN, SAID PUBLIC WORKS SPOKESWOMAN GWEN HOPKINS-GLASCOCK. THE BROWN TRASH CARTS ARE DISTRIBUTED AT NO COST, BUT THE CITY PAYS $32.50 PER TON FOR DISPOSING OF ABOUT 11,000 TONS OF WASTE EACH MONTH IN LANDFILLS. READ MORE
