Nashville State acquires former Dillard's space at Hickory Hollow

Nashville State acquires former Dillard's space at Hickory Hollow

Nashville State Community College announced today they have completed the acquisition of the former Dillard's space at Hickory Hollow Mall and will begin holding classes in the 200,000-square-foot facility during the fall of 2012.
“The acquisition of the space affords the college the opportunity to increase our presence in southeastern Davidson County and better serve students in the area,” NSCC president Dr. George Van Allen said in a press release.
“Nashville State views this expansion as a huge step forward in providing quality, affordable education opportunities for Metro Nashville and the surrounding communities.”
The space was purchased in 2011 with help from the Metro Council and Mayor Karl Dean, who awarded Nashville State a $1 million grant.
“A new campus in the Hickory Hollow area will be the perfect complement to the city’s own investment in a new public facility there that will include an expanded library, new regional community center and park space,” Dean said in a statement.
Eileen Crane, executive assistant to Van Allen, said the new facility would help ease pressure off Nashville State's main campus on White Bridge Road and other satellite campuses.

WZTV FOX 17 :: Newsroom - Top Stories - Arrest Made After Metro Police Stop Rolling Meth Lab
One man is under arrest after a Metro Police Officer smelled the stench of methamphetamine coming from the vehicle after a traffic stop at around 12:30 a.m. in south Nashville.
After a search of the vehicle at Smith Springs Road and Butler Road, police say they found a non-active, but viable meth lab fully capable of producing meth, just not cooking it at the time.
Police say the man has warrants for his arrest out of Carroll County for child endangerment and meth. After being decontaminated he will be booked into the Davidson County Jail on those charges, as well as manufacturing meth and possession of meth and marijuana.
His name is not being released at this time.
