Public Meetings for MTA Scheduled Fall System Changes for Southeast Nashville

Public meetings scheduled for July 22 and 24 for fall system changes

The Nashville Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) will hold four public meetings on July 22 and 24 regarding proposed changes for its biannual system changes. Changes are being proposed for routes 15 Murfreesboro Pike, 24X Bellevue Express and 42 St. Cecilia/Cumberland. Also being discussed is the elimination of BusLink and the possible elimination of Route 39X Cane Ridge Express. In addition, MTA is seeking comments regarding potential routing changes to multiple routes due to 5th Avenue becoming bidirectional.

Listed below are the locations and times for the public meetings and the bus routes that serve the meeting locations.

Men and women who would like to work part-time as Metro school crossing guards are invited to a job fair tomorrow (Wednesday) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Green Hills Room of the Metro Southeast complex at 1417 Murfreesboro Pike.

The police department will be taking crossing guard applications for the upcoming school year. Applicants must be at least 18, have a valid government-issued ID and social security card, have reliable transportation, and be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Starting pay is $9.79 per hour. Benefits include furnished uniforms and equipment, holiday pay and a bonus at the end of the school year that recognizes guards’ dedication. 

The police department employs nearly 200 crossing guards who work public school zones in the mornings and afternoons throughout Davidson County.

Reminder Southeast Nashville Independence Day Fireworks tonight!


Antioch July 3rd Celebration Unites Community | Nashville News, Weather

The 1st Annual Independence Day Celebration for SE Nashville/Davidson County will take place on Wednesday, July 3rd - in the East side of  the Global Mall at the Crossings (f/n/a Hickory Hollow Mall).  There will be room for lawn chairs and blankets in designated areas around the old JC Penney and Macy's areas.  (there will be guides present to ensure all open areas are easily accessible)
There will be entertainment, food trucks and food vendors, ice cream and cotton candy vendors, face painting and glow sticks for kids. The Global Mall at the Crossings now has five great restaurants open in the Food Court and this will be open for anyone to go inside and eat and cool off.  Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and the fireworks show, produced by Pyro Shows (the same company that produces the fireworks downtown on Thursday evening and for the CMA's) will begin at dusk, approximately 9:00 p.m.  tonight!
