District 29 Night Out Against Crime, New Elementary School Groundbreaking, Ford Ice Center in Southeast Nashville and Early Voting

THIS YEAR DISTRICT 29 COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS HAVE DECIDED TO MOVE OUR NIGHT OUT AGAINST CRIME TO OCTOBER!

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT GIVES THIS MONTH AS AN OPTION AND I HAVE BEEN SPEAKING WITH CHIEF ANDERSON AND OTHERS IN METRO OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS TO PRESENT A RESOLUTION TO GIVE OCTOBER AS AN OPTION FOR THE CITY OF NASHVILLE FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO CELEBRATE THE NATIONAL ACTIVITIES AT THIS TIME.

DISCUSSIONS ARE ONGOING AND ONE OF THE CONCERNS WAS THAT THE MEDIA WOULD NOT COVER IT THE SAME IF IT WAS SPLIT INTO TWO DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE YEAR.

THE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT OFFICE SHARED THAT THEY HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS WITH MEDIA ATTENTION, HOWEVER THE CITY CAN PRESENT THIS AS AN OPTION BECAUSE IT IS RECOGNIZED ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL DUE TO OTHER CITIES AND STATES CELEBRATING IN OCTOBER.

CURRENTLY CITIES IN NEW ORLEANS, TEXAS, AND CHATTANOOGA HAVE OPENED THIS TIME OF YEAR AS AN OPTION.

WE WILL TRY IT! MORE INFORMATION WILL BE SENT OUT SOON!

Wed. 7/23 - 11:30 a.m. - groundbreaking for the new Elementary School on Smith Springs Road - park at the YMCA Camp lot and travel via air conditioned van to the site.  At a recent community meeting we were told the Board of Education will accept suggestions for a name for the school.  The school site is located in District 7 that is represented by Will Pinkston and you can contact him at will@pinkstonforschools.com

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SOUTHEAST NASHVILLE AREA EARLY VOTING SITE.  YOUR COUNCILMEMBERS Councilman Bedne, Councilwoman Dowell, Councilman Duvall, Councilman Potts, Councilman Dominy, and Councilwoman Johnson WORKED HARD TO MAKE SURE THIS SITE (Crossings Event Center, 5380 Hickory Hollow Pkwy - directly across from Freeland Chevrolet) RETURNED FOR OUR AREA.

Please help make this site a success.  When we debated at the metro council budget hearing to return this site, we were given data by the department and an at large councilman that this was the site with the lowest numbers in terms of voters of all the early vote sites in the city.

Please Southeast Neighbors, our area of the city has and will continue to receive support for major projects in this city because of you...Voting gives our area power.  Thank you.

Early Voting at this Site Begins July 26th.  Early Voting begins for Nashville July 18th. Please see the schedule below.
