Join Mayor Karl Dean, Olympian Scott Hamilton at Southeast Nashville's Southeast Community Center Park for the Announcement of a New Community Wide Health Initiative

MEDIA ADVISORY Mayor, Joined by Olympian Scott Hamilton, to Announce New Community-Wide Health Initiative on Thursday NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mayor Karl Dean, joined by Olympian Scott Hamilton and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, will announce a new community-wide health initiative at noon on Thursday, April 9 at the Southeast Community Center at the Commons at the Crossings in Antioch. The announcement will be followed by a two-mile walk with community members led by Mayor Dean. The new health campaign will build on the momentum of other community-wide health challenges, including Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor, the Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run and Mayor’s Field Day with the Tennessee Titans. Mayor Dean’s focus on healthy, active living is designed to call attention to the problems of obesity – particularly childhood obesity. The Nashville Predators’ Ford Ice Center will support Thursday’s community walk, which will include an appearance by the popular mascot Gnash. Hamilton of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy at the Ford Ice Center will make remarks about the importance of healthy living.
